For Grayling High School Player’s 2021 production of Clue, these glasses became a defining part of my portrayal of the quirky Mrs. Peacock. Their sharp, vintage style perfectly complemented her uptight demeanor and paired seamlessly with her navy blue dress, peacock-feathered hat and fan, and, of course, the cheeky hidden flask in her purse. Playing Mrs. Peacock was a delightful challenge, filled with ironic twists and over-the-top moments that let me embrace the silliness and draw laughter from the audience. What made this performance even more special was that it took place during the COVID-19 pandemic—a time when live theater felt more precious than ever. Despite the challenges, stepping into Mrs. Peacock’s dramatic shoes (and glasses!) during my junior year reminded me why I love performing and connecting with others through storytelling.
